Taking Care of Business

It has been a busy couple of weeks! While Bill’s been finishing artwork to get printed before ProtoTO, I’ve been doing workshops to increase our business savvy as we get this venture off the ground. Each evening last week I was at workshops put on by the Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre, who had speakers talking about business plans, cash flow, sales and all the things someone would need to know to grow their business. It has been pretty intense.

I’m not going to go into details about that, but I do want to mention some of the cool people I met there, and give them a shout out. Victoria does art which she is converting into greeting cards, and also makes socks for fly fishing rods! (and she likes board games, so we got along pretty well). Her art is super cute with some good puns thrown in. Check out her work on her Etsy site here:ย https://www.etsy.com/shop/andxampersandย ย . She doesn’t currently have fishing rod socks (those are the cloth tubes you put the pieces of your rod in, not socks for your feet with pictures of fishing rods on them) because she needs the stock for an upcoming trade show.

I also met Monika, who is going to be running art classes. The difference is, instead of going to her studio, she comes to your location to run a workshop, bringing all the supplies. She’ll be looking to do classes in schools, or for any group of people who want to get together and book a workshop/lesson to be creative and make some art with the guidance of an expert! And this isn’t related to her business, but it turns out that she likes the horror genre and H.P. Lovecraft! She saw our Cthulhu game and mentioned it, but not in a “What’s Cthulhu?” way. So naturally, we hit it off pretty well too! She also has some stuff on the web that you can check out:ย  http://monikaraciborski.wixsite.com/artclockfineart andย  http://pensiveartist.blogspot.com/

Okay, I did meet some other people, but these are the ones who gave me info to share with you. Don’t be getting the idea that I only meet pretty ladies just because of these two examples. There are a few workshops left, so I hope to be able to share the business ideas of some of the other people I have met.

Keep on playing and learning!
